It is a small sentence on purpose. Indian physical education does not have a shortage of ambition written about it. What it has is a gap between the documents and the field, and that gap is crossed one period at a time by a person who is usually doing it alone.
So we build for that person, ahead of the ministry and the academy. The teacher taking the period is the only part of this system that touches every child in it, and they are the part that has been given the least to work with.
If that works at scale, two things follow that India is already trying to buy separately: a far wider base for sport, and a generation that leaves school understanding how its own body works.
